Wolf Park is expanding again, this time with a new animal care center! The two-story Allison Franklin Animal Care Center will allow Wolf Park’s staff and veterinarians to perform animal surgeries on site, so animals will no longer have to be transported to other facilities for veterinary care. The center will also provide more space for the time-intensive process of puppy rearing and socialization, and will feature both indoor and outdoor areas for animal recovery and isolation.
Donor Ed Franklin has pledged up to $200,000 to fund the project, which is named in honor of his late wife, Allison.
“We just liked it and my wife was very fond of the place. She passed away last year. I though this would be a nice memorial for her to have something like this in Wolf Park,” said Franklin.
The Park plans to break ground for the animal care center late this summer or in early fall, with completion expected before the end of the year.
